Like it or not, we all need a little support sometimes. Mental health is even more important than our physical health since not one muscle can move without first being signaled by the brain. The same brain that tells your body to move, that you’re hungry or tired is the same one that can misfire and send mixed messages about your mood, whether things are really happening the way you perceive them, or even your desire to live. Talk therapy is a great component to an overall mental wellness plan that can improve your quality of life.
I am happy to help with internal turmoil that may be making you feel depressed or anxious, that which comes from loss and grief, family or intimate partner problems or if you struggle with excessive substance use. I’ll help you work through coming out and self-acceptance of your orientation as lesbian, gay or bisexual or your identity as transgender, gender non-conforming or non-binary. I also offer compassionate support if you have experienced external factors like violent and/or sexual trauma, racial, gender or cultural discrimination, military-related trauma or stress related to working in public safety. If you think it’s time to address issues with your anger, organization skills, or self-esteem, we can figure out where to start. I know that one size does not fit all, so my approach with you will be as unique as you.
My training is in clinical social work and my approach to therapy is to consider you as the whole person you are who just needs some objective support. I also know that you are not just a product of what you think, but also of the things and people around you that could be contributing to how you’re doing. Whether you just need a little ‘tune-up’ to work through something or need a bit longer to really sort through and process some things that have been bothering you for a long time, I’m happy to go on that journey with you. I will do my best to offer a fresh perspective and give you tools that might be helpful to you during our time together and beyond.
To be able to meet you where you are and accommodate your preference, I am licensed to provide therapy in person and online if you live in Georgia or online if you live in Virginia.
I am a member of the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network and the Georgia Society for Clinical Social Work.
Let’s do this together.
