My role in therapy is to support you in accessing your own wisdom to develop ways to cope with and learn from emotional stress, while understanding who you are and creating the life that you want. I believe learning how to listen to our emotions and grow from them leads to increased resilience and greater insight into how to deal with difficult problems.
My areas of interest and expertise include helping people cope with mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. Feeling hopeless or overwhelmed can affect our workplace performance, sap our energy, and lead us to withdraw from relationships with friends and family. I enjoy supporting people in recognizing their individual strengths and creating and working toward feasible goals to cope effectively with these disorders. I also have a great deal of experience in working with addiction and helping people in recovery.
I am a native of Atlanta and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of clinical experience working with people in recovery from mental illness and addiction in several settings, including hospitals, emergency rooms, outpatient clinics, and private practice.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Social Work degree with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, both from the University of Georgia.
