LGBTQ & Transgender Adolescents in Decatur & Atlanta
Helping preteens & teenagers like you love yourself
If you or your child is struggling with anxiety or depression or are questioning their gender or sexuality, we understand how difficult that can be.
You might be worried about coming out at school or talking to your parents about your gender or sexuality. You might feel stressed out about grades and expectations of your family. You might feel like your parents don’t understand you or you might feel like you need more friends. You might be having trouble in the group text with your friends and feel like the people that once liked you don’t anymore.
You might feel embarrassed to open up about what you’re really going through, even to family and friends. Getting help from therapists like us can help you talk freely about what’s bothering you. Coming to therapy can give your child a safe space to talk and have someone completely listen to you without judgment. Sometimes we need someone to talk to besides our parents and friends who can listen and understand and provide guidance for your concerns.
Here Are Some Specific Challenges That We Can Help You With

As Your Therapist, We Can Help You Love yourself
We are True You Southeast and we are therapists who are uniquely qualified to help you love yourself.
We have years of experience working with tweens and teens and we are therapists that understand going through childhood with all the many activities, sports, expectations and friend groups. We understand going through middle and high school and the expectations of parents and teachers with chores and grades and getting along with your siblings. It’s a lot and it can be overwhelming.
We’ve had additional training and classes for working with LGBTQ and transgender adolescents. We have had additional training with puberty blockers and hormones and coming out at school and to family.
We want you to feel safe and heard and understood. Think of our office as a place you can stretch out, hug our cloud pillow or sketch in the communal sketchbook and just be yourself in front of a therapist that hears you and understands.

A Note to Parents:
We want your child to feel comfortable in therapy to talk about their emotions and have someone listen to them. We do believe in family sessions and sometimes at the beginning or end of a session, we may ask you to join us.
Most of the time, this will be your child’s space to process their emotions and gain support from their therapist. If needed, we can devote an entire session to the whole family.
While we work to support children and teens to explore their gender and sexuality, we also focus on other mental health needs such as depression, anxiety, bullying, disordered eating, thoughts of self-harm and other mental health concerns.
We focus on the whole person and allowing our children and teenagers to thrive healthy and happy and affirmed.
